RECORDING OR LIVE-STREAMING OF SERVICES
Technology Requirements
The Cathedral offers free WIFI throughout the whole campus, as well as a free public internet service with modest upload speeds.
People can arrange to record and/or live-stream a funeral service using their own smart phone or tablet, and sending the live stream to their personal social media account—such as their own Facebook account. There are other options, including Vimeo and YouTube. These need to be arranged by the family.
We do not publish live streams of funeral services or weddings to the Cathedral Facebook page.
The basic technology and internet requirement to record or to live stream a service are as follows:
To record video during a service
-
A smartphone (iPhone or equivalent Android device)
-
Tripod with attachment to hold the smartphone
To live-stream a service
-
A smartphone (iPhone or equivalent Android device)
-
Tripod with attachment to hold the smartphone
-
Social media account with permission to publish a live video
-
High-speed internet access (Cathedral WIFI or your own mobile broadband)
If using the Cathedral live stream camera the following requirements apply
-
A smartphone (iPhone or equivalent Android device)
-
Social media account with permission to publish a live video
-
Arrive at the Cathedral at least 30 minutes before the service to set up and test the technology
-
A family member must be responsible for controlling the Mevo camera from their phone during the service
The location of any recording equipment is entirely at the discretion of the priest taking the service, and we will be happy to recommend the most appropriate locations for any camera tripods.
No flash or additional lighting is to be used.
The Cathedral cannot accept any responsibility for the quality of the recording or the successful performance of the technology.
